Medan: Six of the best papers from the 36 presented at the International Conference on Next-Generation Digital Technologies (NEXT-D) 2026 will be published in leading journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science (WoS).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence (FCoEE) executive chairman Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin stated that the selected papers, which cover topics in digital technology and artificial intelligence, will serve as future references for both academics and industry professionals. He emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence, noting its role as an ecosystem that is set to reshape daily life, including education systems at universities and schools.

Dr Kamarudin highlighted that the impact of artificial intelligence extends to the broader community, including political leaders. He mentioned that FCoEE has focused on producing high-impact research in high-discipline fields, resulting in several influential papers. These efforts, he noted, are designed to make a significant impact in relevant areas.

The conference, which was organized by FCoEE in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), took place at the university from September 12 until its conclusion yesterday. The closing ceremony was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Under the theme "Transforming the Digital Landscape With Emerging Technologies," NEXT-D attracted over 200 participants, including global experts, academics, and industry leaders. The event concentrated on the role of advanced technology in transforming the global digital landscape and provided a platform for knowledge exchange among academia, industry, and other stakeholders.
