SME Bank Achieves RM4.3 Billion in Approved Financing for 2025 to Boost MSME Sector

Kuala lumpur: Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad ('SME Bank') has reported a notable performance for the year 2025, with total approved financing reaching approximately RM4.3 billion. This marks a 19% increase compared to the previous year, indicating sustained demand in crucial sectors such as Bumiputera development, technology and innovation, digital adoption, climate-resilient initiatives, the halal industry, and tourism. These efforts align with Bank Negara Malaysia's ('BNM') Performance Measurement Framework ('PMF') and the MADANI Economic Framework.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Samad Majid Zain, the Relief President/CEO of SME Bank, highlighted the bank's role in strengthening Malaysia's MSME ecosystem. He noted that approximately RM3.8 billion of the total approved financing was directed towards MSMEs, showing an increase of about 20% from the previous year. More than 60% of the bank's customers received financing of RM1 million and below, emphasizing the bank's focus on providing access to underserved and unserved entrepreneurs. This progress is supported by the government's confidence in the bank, with nearly RM2 billion allocated under National Budget 2026 for strategic initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive MSME growth and enhancing enterprise resilience.
