Kanowit: The project to replace educational facilities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kanowit, which included 18 classrooms and various other amenities, has been completed ahead of schedule, bringing significant benefits to the local community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced that the project, implemented under the 13th Malaysia Plan, was officially handed over on November 5, two months ahead of the original completion date of January 9 next year. The project, which cost RM49.9 million, was completed successfully due to the strong cooperation among Special Project Team 2, JKR, JPNS, the main contractor, and all parties involved.

Nanta explained that the project encompassed the construction of an administrative block and an academic block comprising 18 classrooms, a surau, a Design and Technology (RBT) workshop, a computer laboratory, an integrated science laboratory, a chemistry laboratory, and two resource rooms. He emphasized that the new facilities were not merely physical structures but a symbol of hope for improving the quality of education for the younger generation in Kanowit.

He highlighted that with safer and more modern facilities, students would enjoy enhanced learning experiences, teachers would be able to teach more effectively, and parents would feel more confident about their children's future. Nanta also reiterated that the Works Ministry was committed to ensuring every development project was implemented on schedule, met the required standards, and benefited the people, particularly those in rural areas.

Furthermore, he reminded school staff to take care of the facilities and make the best use of them to nurture outstanding students who will become future leaders.
