Petaling jaya: A special committee has been set up to ensure that all aspects surrounding the death of a Form Four female student, believed to have been stabbed to death in an incident at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya, are investigated thoroughly, transparently, and fairly. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced this, stating that the case is currently being investigated by the authorities, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) will extend its full cooperation to the ongoing investigation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the suspect has been arrested by the police, and the MOE extended its condolences to the family of the student who died in the incident. Fadhlina expressed, "May the family be granted strength and patience in facing this tragedy," in a statement.
Fadhlina also noted that a team of counsellors and guidance and counselling teachers has been mobilised to provide psychosocial support and interventions for students, teachers, and all school staff affected by the incident.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Ismail reportedly mentioned that a Form Four female student was believed to have been stabbed to death by a male schoolmate in an incident at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya this morning. He stated that in the 9.30am incident, the victim died at the scene, while the 14-year-old suspect, who is also a student at the same school, was arrested at the location.
Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said two sharp objects believed to have been used in the stabbing were recovered. He added that the victim was found dead near the school's toilet area with several stab wounds on her body.
