Kuala lumpur: A total of 22 clients of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) successfully passed all subjects they sat for in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. They were part of a group of 27 AADK clients who took the examination while undergoing the Institutional Treatment and Rehabilitation (RPDI) programme at Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centres (PUSPEN) last year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, AADK Director-General Datuk Ruslin Jusoh stated that 20 of these candidates were from PUSPEN Karangan in Kedah, six from PUSPEN Papar in Sabah, and one from PUSPEN Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur. The clients are participating in the RPDI programme, which includes a special module known as the Client Education Access Programme (PAPK). This initiative is targeted at clients under the age of 18, offering them a second chance in education.
Ruslin explained that the PAPK programme provides eligible clients with a structured class schedule, taught by experienced teachers, with additional support from educators from the District Education Office. The clients sat for six subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, Mathematics, History, and Islamic Education or Moral Education.
He further elaborated that the PAPK programme is designed to help AADK clients obtain formal education, securing their future by providing opportunities to pursue higher studies. It also aims to facilitate skills certification through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses, assisting clients in rebuilding their lives while maintaining lifelong recovery.
Additionally, Ruslin highlighted that the PAPK programme serves as a turning point in altering the perception that dropping out of school equates to a lack of opportunities for a second chance.
