Seremban: A total of 195 individuals, including a Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidate, tested positive for drugs and were detained by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) through the three-day Ops Perdana that was conducted simultaneously in Seremban, Jempol, Tampin, and Port Dickson yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, AADK deputy director-general (Operations) Zainudin Abdullah stated that the operation, which began on June 29, involved 72 Negeri Sembilan AADK personnel. Among those detained was a 17-year-old student and his brother, in his 20s, who tested positive for ketum at their house in Seremban. The student claimed he used ketum to stay awake while studying late at night.
Zainudin further reported the detention of a married couple, aged 45 and 44, who tested positive for methamphetamine and ketum. They were found with their two children, aged 10 and four, in a house without electricity, and the children have been referred to the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
In Jempol, a 44-year-old woman was detained after testing positive for syabu. At the time of her arrest, she was at home with her 15-month-old daughter. Investigations revealed that her husband and eldest child were being detained at the Jempol police headquarters for alleged drug possession under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The operation also saw the arrest of a Rohingya man, in his 40s, found in possession of 2.62 grammes of suspected morphine. Four foreign nationals from Indonesia and Myanmar were detained and handed over to the police for further action under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Additionally, eight men, aged between 19 and 40, were nabbed at a suspected drug den in Felda Palong 12 and 13 in Jempol.
Zainudin mentioned that AADK also tracked down and detained 39 individuals who had failed to appear in court after being released on bail.
