Kuala lumpur: The role of sports journalists is becoming increasingly important ahead of major sporting events, including the 2027 SEA Games, as Malaysia prepares to host the Games, making close cooperation between the media and the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) even more vital, said its minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari. He said the work of sports journalists is a noble responsibility in ensuring the public remains updated on developments in the national sports arena. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mohammed Taufiq emphasized the significance of the media's role as Malaysia approaches upcoming sporting events. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between KBS and sports journalists to address matters related to national sports development collectively. Dr Mohammed Taufiq acknowledged the dedication of sports media practitioners who tirelessly work to inform the public about the country's sports scene. He recognized their efforts and described their work as noble, appreciating the sacrifice s they make in terms of time, energy, and health. He expressed hope for continued progress in the country's sports media, underscoring its crucial role in delivering comprehensive sports reports to the public. Additionally, he praised the annual SAM-100PLUS Awards as the highest form of recognition for sports journalists in Malaysia, and he conveyed appreciation to the SAM president and committee members for their efforts in supporting the welfare and unity among sports journalists.
