Colombo: On 20 November 2025, the Government of Sri Lanka officially launched the National Productivity Master Plan, a five-year roadmap designed to shift the country from crisis recovery to productivity-led, export-oriented growth. The plan aims to guide the nation's economic strategies and initiatives from 2024 to 2029.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the master plan was developed by the National Productivity Secretariat and the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka. The project received technical support from the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), which collaborated with the Korea Development Institute's Center for International Development. This collaboration involved leading the analytical and drafting work to ensure a comprehensive approach towards enhancing productivity.
The plan is expected to focus on leveraging Sri Lanka's potential in various sectors by enhancing efficiency and competitiveness. The initiative is also anticipated to foster innovation and international trade, thereby improving the overall economic landscape of the country over the coming years.
