Stability And Prudent Financial Management Key To Malaysia’s Growth – PM Anwar

Dili: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia's ability to maintain political stability and prudent financial management has enabled the country to carry out reforms and sustain economic growth. Speaking at the Engagement Programme with the Malaysian diaspora and alumni of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and Malaysian Defence Cooperation Programme (MDCP) here today, Anwar stressed that peace and stability were the foundation for reforms in education, institutions and energy, alongside the drive for digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted that political stability allowed Malaysia to implement gradual reforms without creating division. He emphasized the importance of conducting reforms wisely and not rushing the process. Anwar attributed Malaysia's achievements to peace and political stability, which he believes are crucial for the nation's continued progress.

During his two-day inaugural visit, Anwar underscored the importance of leadership, civil service, and private sector cooperation in attracting foreign direct investments and strengthening domestic investments. He emphasized the role of good governance in Malaysia's progress and warned against corruption, abuse, and waste. Anwar pointed out that petrol prices have been reduced to RM1.99 per litre through strict procurement processes, savings in flood mitigation projects, and targeted subsidies.

The Prime Minister urged Malaysians to rise above racial or regional politics, cautioning that divisive rhetoric could harm the nation. He stressed the need to prioritize national interests and aspirations to prevent disasters. Anwar also reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to digitalisation, energy transition, education, and health, and thanked Petronas for its involvement in Timor-Leste as a reflection of regional cooperation.
