Sepang:The highly anticipated Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit has been delayed.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the delay is attributed to rain at the Malaysian circuit, causing a postponement of the race's start. Formula 1 announced on Threads, stating, "Race control: The start of the Grand Prix will be delayed."
Originally scheduled to begin at 3 pm, the race had not commenced at the time of the report. In July, it was confirmed that Malaysia would host the Gulf Air Bahrain GP from October 2 to 4, following an agreement among Formula 1, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain. This agreement ensured that the Bahrain GP remained on the 2026 F1 calendar after its earlier cancellation due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Malaysia previously hosted the Malaysian GP at Sepang International Circuit from 1999 to 2017 until it was removed from the F1 calendar.
