Tawau: Close cooperation between the state government and the Federal Government is vital for ensuring better public facility development, including the construction of hospitals for the people in Sabah, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. An elected representative who truly cares for the people's interests and understands the community's problems is crucial for ensuring the continuity of development.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized the importance of cooperation between the state and Federal Government while officiating the launch of Tawau Hospital's new block. The event was also attended by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad. Anwar highlighted that the MADANI national development framework prioritizes education and health, unlike other countries that focus on defence and mega projects.
Anwar mentioned that while other countries focus on mega projects and defence, the MADANI government emphasizes education and healthcare. He shared that upon completion of the hospital, he inquired about its patient capacity and instructed the Health Ministry secretary-general to add more facilities due to full occupancy.
Anwar also addressed the issue of contract doctors, stating it was inherited from the previous government. The MADANI Government has nearly resolved matters affecting 10,000 doctors, with plans to address unresolved issues with the help of the Health Ministry and Public Service Department, including allowances for contract doctors.
Furthermore, Anwar reiterated the government's commitment to addressing the workload and welfare of civil servants, including raising salaries after 12 years without revision.
