Pahang: Efforts to enhance infrastructure at private tahfiz schools in Pahang are being carried out through cooperation between the state and federal governments, the Pahang State Legislative Assembly was informed today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the federal government allocated RM3.5 million last year to 31 private tahfiz schools to enhance their learning facilities.
The State Islamic Religious Affairs, Rural Development and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad, stated that the state government, through the Makmur Pahang initiative, has been providing RM2,000 to each of these private tahfiz schools. This financial support has been consistently extended for the past three years up to the current year.
Syed Ibrahim shared these details in response to a query from Haris Salleh Hamzah, a Lantikan Assemblyman, concerning the latest number of registered tahfiz institutions in Pahang and the measures being implemented to strengthen their infrastructure, student welfare, and management.
He further elaborated that, to date, 136 private tahfiz schools have been registered across Pahang, while 56 others are pending registration with the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MUIP). In addition, 37 tahfiz kindergartens under the state government are now operational, with 157 teachers educating 1,180 students across each state constituency in Pahang.
The state government allocates RM7.4 million annually for the operation of tahfiz institutions, which includes providing RM250 per student in fee assistance for those from B40 families, amounting to a total of RM2.52 million.
