Pahang: The Pahang government will implement the 'Pahang 1st' free water programme, which benefits around 38,000 consumers across the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, in a statement today, said the initiative is a rebranding of the 'Air Makmur' rebate programme (RAM), which provides 20 cubic metres (m³) of free water per month to targeted groups, with an annual allocation of RM7.3 million.
'This move is based on the improved financial position of the state government and Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP),' he said, adding that the decision was approved by the State Executive Council.
He hoped that the initiative will ensure that targeted groups will continue to benefit from the programme.
Wan Rosdy also advised all water users in Pahang to adopt water-saving practices and avoid wastage.
