Kuala lumpur: Barisan Nasional's (BN) cooperation and understanding with other parties in state elections do not affect the basis of the Unity Government at the federal level, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. The UMNO information chief stated that political cooperation at the state level should be viewed separately from the federal administration, as each state has its own political landscape, leadership, and constitutional framework. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azalina emphasized that states and the federal government operate differently due to each state having its own constitution, leadership, and Sultan or Ruler. She articulated these points to reporters following the monthly assembly with staff of the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform). Azalina's comments were in response to former UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi's statement, who urged BN to terminate its cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the federal level. She reassured that BN would continue to be a part of the Unity Government at the federal level, in accordance with the decisions made by the party's top leadership. Azalina further reiterated that the party's stance has been consistently communicated through numerous media statements issued by the party's leadership, as well as by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
