Mantin: Society and family members have been urged to stop stigmatising Persons Under Supervision (ODS) and instead support them in rebuilding their lives. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that individuals who have completed their sentences should not be subjected to a 'second prison' of cynicism and insults.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin emphasized the importance of shifting the focus from punishment to full rehabilitation. He highlighted that community-based rehabilitation accelerates and enhances the reintegration process. He urged society to welcome former inmates who are striving to improve themselves through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), culinary, or tahfiz programmes.
Speaking at the Penerapan Nilai-Nilai Murni programme at the Mantin Inmate Reintegration Centre (PRP), Saifuddin noted that the Mantin PRP represents a fresh start, equipping former inmates with vocational skills necessary for life after detention. Currently, 500 ODS at the centre are undergoing training, which includes spiritual modules designed to strengthen their character.
Saifuddin also expressed appreciation for the strategic partners involved in the Corporate Smart Internship (CSI) initiative. This collaboration with 10 private-sector employers offers ODS job opportunities, aligning with the values of compassion under the Malaysia MADANI framework.
