Lima Kedai:A seven-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a pack of six to eight stray dogs while playing at a playground near a low-cost housing flat in Lima Kedai. The incident occurred between 3 pm and 4 pm, with the boy sustaining injuries as he tried to escape the dogs.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kota Iskandar assemblyman Datuk Pandak Ahmad reported that a witness intervened by throwing stones at the dogs, aiding in the boy's rescue. Pandak Ahmad was informed of the incident by the village head and visited the location to inspect the site.
The young victim suffered injuries to his eye area, neck, head, and body, and was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru for treatment. Datuk Pandak expressed concern over the frequency of such incidents and emphasized the need for prompt action by the authorities.
Earlier the same day, a 15-year-old boy was also attacked by stray dogs in the area. He managed to fend off the animals and escape but sustained a leg injury. Pandak Ahmad advised the teenager to seek medical attention at a nearby clinic.
The local authority has been notified, and the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) is set to conduct an operation to address the stray dog issue. Pandak Ahmad underscored the urgency of taking appropriate action to ensure residents' safety, particularly children, despite potential objections from NGOs.
Pandak Ahmad also visited the injured boy and expressed hopes for effective measures to prevent future incidents, especially in residential areas with public facilities. In a related incident on September 5, a two-year-old girl was seriously injured by stray dogs in Kampung Tambak, Peserai, Batu Pahat.
