Perak: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, attended the state-level 2026 Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration at the Indera Mulia Stadium. His Royal Highness was joined by the Raja Muda of Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, and the Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sultan Nazrin arrived at approximately 3 pm and was welcomed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. The celebration included the traditional yee sang tossing ritual, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. This ritual precedes the Chinese community's celebrations on February 17 and 18.

The event featured a luncheon with Chinese cultural performances, including a lion dance and a traditional Chinese orchestra. During the event, Sultan Nazrin distributed angpau to children from various welfare homes.

Perak Menteri Besar Saarani, in his speech, encouraged the people to move forward with urgency, emphasizing unity and inclusive growth. He expressed the need for equitable opportunities, ensuring all races and communities progress together. Saarani extended New Year greetings, hoping the Year of the Horse would bring courage, wisdom, and prosperity to everyone.
