Pahang: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has expressed his desire to create a Pahang State Jawi Reference Centre dedicated to the education, reference, and preservation of Jawi writing.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Pahang Sultanate's Facebook page announced that Al-Sultan Abdullah proposed the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MUIP) set up a specific body or institution to formally implement Jawi courses, training, and commissioning. The Sultan emphasized the importance of commitment from all relevant parties to this initiative, citing the Jawi script as an essential Malay heritage and a symbol of Islamic civilization that requires preservation.
In the announcement, the Sultan stated, "This Jawi agenda cannot be considered as a mere insertion or complement, but must be made an important component in building a civilised and independent state." The remarks were made by the Sultan before he departed for the 194th MUIP Meeting.
Brigadier General Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah, who serves as the Deputy Yang Dipertuan of MUIP, was also present for the meeting.
