Kuantan: Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has decreed that special prayers (solat hajat) be held at all mosques throughout the state, seeking Allah SWT's help for the haze situation in Sarawak to improve. The Kesultanan Pahang announced this initiative through a Facebook post, emphasizing the importance of prayers alongside efforts to tackle the haze, which poses risks to public health and well-being.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, His Royal Highness also advised the people of Sarawak to adhere to all directives and advice issued by state authorities, especially concerning safety and health during the haze situation, and to take necessary precautions. The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at the Serian Police headquarters in Sarawak has shown improvement, dropping to 190 from 227, shifting the air quality from very unhealthy to unhealthy levels.
Data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal indicates that 10 other areas recorded unhealthy air quality. These areas include Kuching with an API of 182, Samarahan at 177, Sarikei and Sri Aman both at 173, Sibu at 161, Bintulu at 157, Samalaju and Mukah both at 156, as well as Miri and Bukit Rambai in Melaka, each with a reading of 151.
