Sungai bakap: The Sungai Bakap Hospital is seeking the next of kin or family of an elderly man who passed away at the hospital yesterday, to claim his body.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the hospital confirmed that the man, T Sukumaran, 67, passed away at 10.45 am yesterday. The patient was brought to the Emergency Department by ambulance at 10.17 am due to breathing difficulties and was pronounced dead at 10.45 am despite emergency treatment. A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be 'Ischemic Heart Disease'.

The elderly man had been a resident of the Good Shepherd Care Centre in Jawi since 2014. Throughout his time there, no relatives or acquaintances visited him or claimed custodial rights, read the statement. The hospital added that the address listed on the man's identity card was that of the care home itself.

Members of the public with any information regarding his relatives, or anyone who recognises him, are urged to contact Sungai Bakap Hospital. Next of kin can present themselves at the hospital's Forensic Department to claim the body or provide instructions for burial.
