Kuala lumpur: The natural beauty of Sungai Kesang in Sungai Rambai is set to be revitalised through a RM4 million tourism development project, further strengthening its potential as one of Melaka's leading ecotourism products.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sungai Rambai state assemblyman Datuk Siti Faizah Abdul Azis stated that the allocation from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) would be utilised to implement the project in collaboration with the Jasin Municipal Council (MPJ) and the Melaka River and Coastal Development Corporation (PPSPM).

She explained that the project is currently at the stakeholder engagement stage following an initial briefing, with plans to develop the area from Dataran Riverside Sungai Rambai to the banks of Sungai Kesang. "The development is expected to restore the beauty of Sungai Kesang while creating more opportunities for recreational and ecotourism activities, opening a new chapter for the local economy," she told reporters.

Siti Faizah emphasized that the project would help position Sungai Kesang as one of the state's premier ecotourism products, aligning with the increasing tourist interest in nature-based destinations. She noted Sungai Rambai's strategic location as Melaka's southern gateway from Johor, which provides an advantage in attracting more visitors to experience the natural surroundings of Sungai Kesang.

She added that the anticipated rise in visitor arrivals due to this development will not only boost the local tourism sector but is also expected to generate economic benefits for the local community through the growth of business and service activities.
