Sunway Medical Centre Launches Life Moves Festival 2025 to Enhance Public Health Engagement

Sunway city: Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) successfully hosted its inaugural Life Moves Festival 2025, drawing over 2,000 participants who gathered to take proactive steps toward better health.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the festival, held at the lobby of Towers C and D in SMC, aimed to make core health services accessible by offering free screenings and assessments, such as blood glucose and cholesterol checks, body composition analysis, and urine screenings. SMC's medical professionals were also present to offer wellness guidance and health consultations to attendees.

A statement from the event highlighted that cardiovascular disease and cancer remain major causes of premature mortality, with many cases only detected at advanced stages. This makes early intervention crucial. SMC's chief executive officer, Dr. Seow Vei Ken, emphasized that early detection and management can significantly improve patient outcomes and help control the progression of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He encouraged the community to take their health seriously without fear or judgment.

One of the festival's standout features was the 'Jantungku' Walkthrough Exhibit, a multi-sensory journey through the cardiovascular system that captivated attendees. The festival also included health-themed game stations and activities for families, while visitors explored the Vibrant Health Marketplace.

The event underscored SMC's commitment to making preventive healthcare more accessible. As Malaysia's largest private quaternary hospital, SMC continues to set high standards in advanced and accessible care. It is the first private hospital in the country to receive three major hospital-wide accreditations: Joint Commission International (JCI), the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), and the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH).

SMC's recognition as Malaysia's top hospital and its ranking among the world's top 250 in Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals list for both 2024 and 2025 further enhance its reputation. The hospital also secured its fourth consecutive title as Hospital of the Year (Malaysia) at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025. Currently, SMC offers over 60 medical specialties across 28 Centres of Excellence with 810 licensed beds, with plans to expand to more than 1,100 beds upon the completion of Tower F (Children's Pavilion).
