SWCorp Launches Roads Without Dust Pioneer Project in Negeri Sembilan

Seremban: Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) has identified 15 locations for the implementation of the Roads Without Dust Pioneer Project, particularly in tourist hotspots within Negeri Sembilan. This initiative is part of an effort to enhance urban cleanliness by eliminating dust, fine dirt, and pollutants.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Negeri Sembilan SWCorp director Cairul Hisham Jalaluddin outlined the project's objectives to create a cleaner urban environment. The selected locations include Dataran Nilai, Lorong Seni in Seremban, Dataran Senawang, and several other strategic spots like the front steps of the Seremban City Council and Dataran Melang. The initiative also covers Dataran Jempol, Jeti Pantai Batu 1, and Dataran Kemang in Port Dickson.

The project was inspired by a visit to China by SWCorp CEO Khalid Mohamed, who observed the effectiveness of modern urban cleaning systems that do not pollute road surfaces. The cleaning activities were inspected by Cairul Hisham Jalaluddin, alongside Negeri Sembilan Local Government Development, Housing, and Transport Committee chairman J Arul Kumar. The cleaning operations involve both high-pressure cleaning and manual sweeping for thoroughness, addressing issues such as solid waste collection and the removal of bird droppings.

Cairul highlighted the phased approach to this urban cleaning plan, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness. The project's expansion will depend on the public's response, as cleanliness is considered a shared responsibility.

Arul Kumar noted the positive feedback from the public, attributing it to the improved visual cleanliness and comfort of the environment. He stressed the significance of maintaining cleanliness ahead of Visit Negeri Sembilan 2026, where major events like NS Fest will be hosted. He urged the public to contribute to the effort by not littering, which will enhance public health and elevate the image of tourist and recreational areas.
