Pontian: The Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) is nearing the completion of four investigation papers concerning the illegal dumping and accumulation of construction waste in Pontian, which is suspected to have been brought from Singapore. These investigations involve four landowners in the impacted areas.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor SWCorp director Zainal Fitri Ahmad stated that the investigation papers are anticipated to be finalised within three months. Once completed, they will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further legal action. He mentioned that statements have been recorded from two of the landowners, with plans to collect information from the remaining two to conclude the investigations.

Zainal Fitri noted that SWCorp's ongoing monitoring has not revealed any new cases of construction waste being brought from outside the country to other locations. He assured that investigations are active and aim towards prosecution in the current cases.

Pontian District Officer Mohd Farid Hassan previously identified the affected areas as Kampung Sungai Karang, Kampung Sungai Senai, and Kampung Simpang Kiri. Additionally, State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor mentioned that a special committee has been formed to thoroughly investigate the issue. This committee includes local authorities, the police, the District Office, and SWCorp.
