Kuala lumpur: The government is digitalising the Syariah court system via the E-Syariah platform to enhance transparency, efficiency and user-friendliness, especially in protecting the rights of women and children. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said key initiatives include the e-Syariah mobile application and the e-Nafkah module.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Zulkifli Hasan elaborated that the e-Syariah app, accessible on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery, allows the public to register and track the status of cases involving alimony, divorce, child custody, and matrimonial property without the need to physically go to court. This digital approach is expected to streamline processes and make it easier for individuals, particularly women, to access justice.
He further explained that the e-Nafkah module offers a systematic platform for monitoring the management of family alimony cases, ensuring the enforcement of court orders. This module enables users to check payment status, collections, and the execution of alimony orders efficiently.
During the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat, Dr Zulkifli was responding to an inquiry from Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) concerning government efforts to improve women's access to justice in family-related cases. This includes the digitalisation of Syariah courts, modernisation of legal procedures, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the protection of women's rights and interests.
He also mentioned that the government has introduced Self Pre-Registration of Syariah Cases, or DIY e-Filing, along with the use of remote communication technology under the Syariah Court Civil Procedure Rules. These advancements enable parties to attend hearings without being physically present in court, thus facilitating greater access to justice.
Dr Zulkifli emphasized that these measures align with the MADANI Government's aspiration to enhance the Syariah justice system, making it more transparent, user-friendly, and effective in safeguarding the rights and interests of women and children.
