Taekwon-Do Federation Launches Digital Ecosystem For Governance, Competition

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) today launched a comprehensive digital ecosystem aimed at transforming governance, certification and the competition landscape of the sport in the country. ITF vice-president Datuk Shakir Husein Kalid said the launch marked a significant milestone for the federation, with a fully integrated digital system introduced to track an athlete’s journey from grassroots to elite level.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shakir emphasized the importance of this development for the Malaysian Taekwon-Do Federation (MTF) during a press conference at the National Sports Institute. The new digital ecosystem is designed to monitor the progression of athletes from the white belt level to national team selection. The system records various aspects of an athlete’s development in real time, including belt level, performance, coaches, and competition participation, thereby streamlining the selection process for international events.

Shakir noted that the previous manual system raised concerns over integrity and transparency, making it challenging to efficiently track athletes’ data. The new system includes features such as electronic scoring, live result broadcasting, and automatic ranking calculations, similar to those used in world-level competitions. This digital approach aims to enhance integrity, transparency, traceability, and data referencing, while preventing issues like fake certificates or inaccurate information from arising.

The development of this system was partially funded by a government matching grant of RM65,000, which helped cover some of the software development costs.
