‘Take care of Sabah, Musa’, former CM recalls Rahimah’s advice

KOTA KINABALU, March 14 (Bernama) — Former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said he had benefited from the counsel of the late Toh Puan Rahimah Stephens and the most enduring was, “Take care of Sabah, Musa.”

He said Rahimah was very comfortable in telling him her concerns and wishes for Sabah, and that she always ended their conversations with that piece of advice.

He said Sabah had lost a strong and gracious woman who pioneered women’s role in public service as the first Sabah woman cabinet minister under the Berjaya government.

“On behalf of my family, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Toh Puan Rahimah Stephens on her sudden passing.

”Toh Puan was humble and kind yet resilient despite having faced so many challenges including the tragic death of her husband, former chief minister the late Tun Fuad Stephens.

”Her strength in character is equally matched by her zest for life reflected by her love for dancing ripe into her golden years,” Musa said in a statement today.

Rahimah, 91, died at a private hospital here around 4 am today and was laid to rest at noon at the Kampung Likas Muslim cemetery here.
