Kuala lumpur: The Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme in the Tangga Batu parliamentary constituency has entered its final two phases, with more than 200 programmes scheduled over the next three weeks to engage local communities and speed up the resolution of grassroots issues. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the two phases would cover the Pantai Kundor and Paya Rumput state constituencies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ab Rauf emphasized that the WRUR initiative is a continuation of the ground engagement approach that has been consistently carried out over the past two years. The programme aims to cover initiatives related to welfare, community development, education, youth, entrepreneurship, and efforts to resolve local issues. During the previous 23 implementation series, more than 4,000 complaints were received, with nearly 70 percent successfully resolved.

In the Tangga Batu parliamentary constituency, the initiative had previously been implemented in the Sungai Udang and Kelebang state constituencies. These efforts resulted in 359 complaints being received, out of which 328 were resolved, while the remaining 31 continue to be followed up. The state government is committed to strengthening its grassroots engagement efforts through the Jelajah Ketua Menteri Sayang Rakyat initiative to ensure that every issue raised by the public receives attention and follow-up action.

In today's programme in Pantai Kundor, more than 20 types of aid worth RM150,000 were distributed to various groups. This included RM22,000 for 220 fishermen, RM1,500 for five boat owners affected by boat sinking incidents, and RM14,000 in business equipment for 10 small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs. Contributions were also provided to religious education institutions, houses of worship, students, and homeowners in need.

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) is undertaking RM50,000 in cleaning and river maintenance works at Sungai Seberang Gajah, expected to be completed next week after recent flash floods affected 73 houses in Pantai Kundor. Additionally, the procurement process for improvement works at Sungai Lereh worth RM100,000 has been initiated, and the Public Works Department has sought federal approval for an RM16 million project to upgrade the crossing culvert structure on Jalan Tangga Batu-Tanjung Minyak.
