Tanjong: With the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 coming up soon, the Tanjong MP Service Centre distributed 1,600 Jalur Gemilangs to 21 schools in the parliamentary constituency to liven up the celebrations. About 6,000 mini Jalur Gemilangs were also distributed to students in the parliamentary constituency, which was officiated by Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying at the Tanjong Parliamentary Constituency District Level National Month Launching Ceremony here today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Lim, who is also the Tanjong MP, said all schools in the parliamentary constituency were urged to fly the Jalur Gemilang with pride, whether at the gate, in the school building or in the classroom. She emphasized that the flag was not just a decoration, but a symbol of spirit, hope, and responsibility that the younger generation would continue to uphold the value of patriotism.
Lim stated, "Let every corner be decorated with the Jalur Gemilang colours as a symbol of unity of heart, love for the country and appreciation for the sacrifices of past warriors," when speaking at the event.
Additionally, Lim officiated the 2024 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) Excellence Incentive Presentation Ceremony, where 28 candidates who recorded excellent results in the examination received a total incentive of RM10,600. This included two students who obtained an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 4.0, respectively from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Hutchings and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Al-Mashoor Perempuan.
Lim said the awarding of the incentive symbolised appreciation for the efforts, sacrifices, and hard work of the students, as well as recognising the role of parents and teachers in guiding them.
