Kota tinggi: One of four 16-year-old boys reported missing while swimming at Pantai Tanjung Lompat here was found dead at 1.25 pm today. Kota Tinggi deputy police chief DSP Mohd Syamsuri Mohamad said the victim's body was found some 500 metres from where he was last seen. "The victim's body will be sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem examination and further action," he told reporters at the scene today. Three other victims remain missing as the search and rescue (SAR) operation continues.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the SAR operation involves about 30 personnel from seven agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Marine Police Force, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), and Ministry of Health. Mohd Syamsuri said strong winds, rough seas, and a rocky coastline are hampering the SAR operation. He advised the public to avoid sea activities for now due to dangerous wave conditions.

Earlier, the JBPM received an emergency call at 8.19 am on the incident involving the six teenagers who were part of a group of 15 camping in the area since yesterday afternoon. Two of them, Mohamad Faqrul Isqandar Abdullah and Muhammad Afiq Ruzaini Mazlan, both 16, were rescued by members of the public around 7.45 am. Four others were reported missing. The department confirmed that the deceased victim was identified as Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul. The three teenagers who remain missing are Muhammad Haiman Fitri Supian, Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal, and Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor. The MMEA, through the Johor Bahru Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC), has since expanded the SAR search area to about one square nautical mile from the incident scene.
