Tawau Police Arrest 14 Students After Playground Fight Involving Weapons

Tawau:Police have arrested 14 male students in connection with a fight involving weapons at the Taman Ambar Playground on Jalan Kuhara.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the students, aged between 12 and 14, were detained by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Tawau District Police Headquarters to aid in the investigation. The incident reportedly began with a misunderstanding between two students and escalated to involve several others.

A viral video of the altercation helped police identify the involved individuals and their roles. Authorities have seized a mobile phone and a black bicycle in connection with the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Police are currently determining the involvement and role of each arrested student, seeking original video recordings, and recording statements from witnesses and detainees. They are also awaiting the victim's medical report and working with school authorities and the Tawau District Education Office.
