Kuala Lumpur: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has taken action to 'rest' a teacher involved in an alleged illicit relationship with a wiring technician from teaching until an internal investigation into the issue is completed. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that although the teacher is temporarily relieved from teaching duties, she remains employed as a civil servant to ensure that the ongoing investigation is not compromised.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadhlina emphasized that the ministry is committed to maintaining the integrity and moral standards of teachers. She assured the public that the MOE is diligently handling the investigation and that the teacher involved is required to participate fully in the process to prevent any disruption.
Fadhlina made these remarks while speaking to reporters at the Opening Ceremony of the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) Scholarship, organized by Farm Fresh Berhad, at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah. She reiterated the ministry's responsibility to uphold the ethical standards set for educators in the country.
Furthermore, Fadhlina highlighted the importance of teachers maintaining exemplary conduct both inside and outside the school environment, as they serve as role models in society. The need for educators to uphold the image of teaching is a priority for the ministry.
The controversy arose when a social media post went viral, alleging an illicit relationship between the teacher and a closed-circuit television technician, both of whom are reportedly still married to their respective partners.
