Terengganu: The Terengganu state government has received RM3.1 million from the federal government, through the Ministry of Finance (MOF), to upgrade and repair jetties near Coral Bay Resort, Pasir Panjang Jetty, and Teluk Keke Jetty. State Tourism, Culture, Environment, and Climate Change Committee chairman, Datuk Razali Idris, stated that the funding would be used by the Besut District Council to enhance tourism facilities, making them more comfortable and safe for visitors to Pulau Perhentian.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Razali emphasized the state government's dedication to improving the tourism infrastructure on Pulau Perhentian, with a focus on jetty safety, public amenities, and waste management to maintain Kuala Besut as a primary entry point for international tourism. He addressed these points during the State Legislative Assembly sitting at Wisma Darul Iman.

Razali's remarks were in response to a query from Azbi Salleh (PAS-Kuala Besut) concerning efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure on Pulau Perhentian, including the safety of jetties, public facilities, and waste management. Furthermore, Razali mentioned that the Besut District Council had contracted a service provider for cleaning services, which will encompass waste collection and general maintenance on the island.

He also highlighted the implementation of various programs and initiatives by the Terengganu Fisheries Department to promote environmental management and conservation on Pulau Perhentian. Addressing a supplementary question regarding the number of visitors, Razali projected that about 300,000 tourists are expected to have visited the island by mid-2025. He noted Pulau Perhentian's popularity among scuba diving and snorkeling enthusiasts as evidence of the state government's commitment to maintaining the island's infrastructure in excellent condition.
