Terengganu MOTAC Calls For Greater School Participation In K3P

Terengganu: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Terengganu Office has urged more schools to participate in the Student's Tourism Programme (K3P) to nurture young ambassadors for the state's tourism sector. Its director, Mazshida Ruslal, emphasized the importance of this initiative in fostering a new generation of tourism advocates.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, about 180 students from six secondary schools in the state have registered as K3P members this year. Mazshida Ruslal noted that, beyond initial exposure to the tourism industry, students involved in K3P gain valuable experience through volunteer activities and practical work.

K3P registration is available to secondary schools with at least 30 students who voluntarily wish to join as members. However, the challenge lies in most schools focusing on areas such as sports clubs, with few teachers willing to serve as tourism mentors. Consequently, many schools struggle to gather the required number of students to establish a K3P.

Mazshida highlighted that, apart from cultivating young ambassadors who can provide information on the state's tourism products, K3P also helps increase students' awareness of career opportunities in the tourism field. The ministry is actively working to improve and strengthen the K3P module to produce more capable and high-quality student ambassadors, in line with Visit Malaysia 2026.

She expressed hope that more schools in Terengganu would register for K3P next year. Throughout the year, the ministry plans to run various programmes, including arts and handicrafts, tree planting, and petting zoos, to engage and educate students.
