Terengganu: The Terengganu Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has paid out RM10.9 million in benefits to 2,180 recipients from January 1 to July 31. The payments were made under various schemes, covering temporary and permanent invalidity, dependants', invalidity, survivors' and funeral management benefits.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hisham Abdul Rahman, the director of Terengganu Perkeso, emphasized the importance of employers registering their workers with Perkeso and ensuring contributions are made. This is essential to provide workers with adequate social security protection in case of workplace incidents.

Hisham also announced that Perkeso will conduct Ops Kesan nationwide and in Terengganu on September 22. The operation aims to identify employers who have not registered their businesses or made the necessary contributions for their workers. He urged unregistered employers to come forward to guarantee their workers' social security protection and advised workers to recognize the benefits of such protection, as contributions are calculated based on a minimum rate corresponding to their salaries.

In a related event, 50 staff members from Perkeso and media practitioners participated in a clean-up and beautification initiative at Surau Bandar Baru Pulau Kambing. This was followed by the distribution of food aid to two B40 families, reflecting Perkeso's commitment to community engagement and support.
