T’ganu Softballers Defeat Johor, Set Sights On Final Group Clash With S’wak


MIRI, Terengganu’s men’s softball team continued their impressive form at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024, securing a 10-5 victory over Johor in their second Group A match at Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) here today.

After a solid start with a win yesterday, Terengganu kept the momentum rolling, scoring in the first, second and sixth innings to clinch the tie.

Despite Johor’s efforts to close the gap with runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings, they suffered their first loss of the group stage.

Head coach Zamuin Mohamed Yusof expressed confidence in his team’s performance.

‘Alhamdulillah, we’ve tackled major challenges from Selangor and Johor. Our upcoming game against Sarawak will be crucial to determine the group winner,’ he said.

Zamuin acknowledged that with all teams now evenly matched, the game against Sarawak, who enjoy home advantage, will be pivotal.

‘We’re determined to maintain our winning streak and secure a victory against them,’ he added.

This win propelled Terengganu to th
e top of Group A with six points from two games.

Their final group match against hosts Sarawak tomorrow will decide who tops the group.

In other results, Pahang claimed their first win in Group B with a commanding 15-3 triumph over Sabah.
