Thailand Aims to Lead in Greener Economy and Food Security

Kuala lumpur: Thailand is set to promote a greener economy while positioning itself as a regional hub for food security, the initiative is part of the country's efforts to build a sustainable future amid climate and geopolitical uncertainties.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Suphajee emphasized the importance of the private sector's role in focusing on the agricultural industry, adding layers of sustainability to it. She believes Thailand is well-prepared to take on this challenge as a provider of food and agricultural products. The government also encourages the adoption of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, alongside digital integration, to support the country's advancement.

Suphajee delivered these remarks during the 'Leader Fireside Chat' session at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2025, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The session was moderated by Khairy Jamaluddin, a former Malaysian Cabinet Minister.

Moreover, Suphajee identified several key industries that Thailand is focusing on, including digital artificial intelligence (AI), advanced semiconductors, next-generation automotive, food security, clean energy, and biotechnology. She stressed the significance of the digital industry, highlighting Thailand's role as the Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) chairman. The country aims to position ASEAN as a global connectivity hub in the digital landscape, ensuring interoperability within the digital ecosystem.

The two-day ABIS event, hosted by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), is themed "Unifying markets for shared prosperity" and coincides with the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
