Kuala lumpur: Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow has described the Thailand-Cambodia peace deal as a milestone that reflects the shared commitment of both nations to peacefully resolve their differences. He highlighted that the joint declaration represents a significant milestone, outlining a path towards peace.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sihasak emphasized that the agreement aligns with Thailand's longstanding position of seeking peaceful solutions in its relations with Cambodia through bilateral mechanisms and discussions. He stressed that the accord demonstrates Cambodia's sincerity and genuine commitment to joining Thailand on the path towards peace and cooperation.
The peace deal, known as the 'KL Peace Accord', was signed on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This formal agreement marks a crucial step towards halting hostilities and restoring peace along the disputed border between Thailand and Cambodia.
