Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the threats posed by artificial intelligence to arts practitioners during a meeting with representatives from the Malaysian Film Associations Coalition (GAFEMA). The meeting was held following the inauguration of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) Tower.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the coalition, which consists of 13 affiliated associations, discussed various issues, including intellectual property rights for publicly funded works, affordable housing for creative practitioners, and allocations for film industry development and training. Anwar emphasized that the government would carefully consider these views and proposals to bolster support for the film industry.

Anwar underscored the importance of art, culture, and literature as vital mediums for shaping the nation's soul, mindset, and identity. He warned that without a solid foundation in these areas, the country risks producing a generation disconnected from its cultural roots and overly reliant on foreign influences.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching were also present at the meeting.
