Lahad datu: Three Indonesian nationals were killed while three others were seriously injured when their car skidded and overturned at Batu 18, Jalan Sandau here this afternoon.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station chief Sumsoa Rashid reported that the victims who died comprised two women and a man, aged between 36 and 41, who were pronounced dead at the scene. The tragic incident prompted an emergency response after a call was received at 3.05 pm via the MERS999 hotline.
Eight firefighters from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the accident site, which is approximately 31 kilometres from the town centre. The rescue team employed special equipment to extricate the victims trapped within the vehicle. Among the injured were two women and a man, all Indonesian nationals aged between 40 and 46, who sustained serious injuries and were transported to Lahad Datu Hospital for further treatment.
Chief Rashid also stated that the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police for further action.
