Three Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash In Kota Tinggi

Kuala lumpur: Two men and a woman were killed in a two-vehicle crash near a petrol station in Tanjung Leman, Jalan Jemaluang here this afternoon.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, operations commander Senior Fire Officer II Azlan Hamzah stated that they received a call about the crash at 5.05 pm. A team of eight firefighters was dispatched to the scene, located about 45 kilometres from the station. The crash involved a Honda City and a Toyota Vios. A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman in the Honda City, along with a 31-year-old man in the Toyota Vios, were pronounced dead by Health Ministry officers. The team used a rescue cutter and stretcher to remove the victims before handing them over to the police for further action. The operation concluded at 6.59 pm.

Meanwhile, Kota Tinggi district police chief Supt Yusof Othman mentioned in a separate statement that the case remains under investigation, and a formal statement will be released shortly. Police received information about the incident at Kilometre 80 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing around 5.25 pm. The accident is believed to have happened when the Toyota Vios skidded and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the Honda City. The driver and passenger of the Toyota Vios, as well as the driver of the Honda City, sustained serious injuries and were confirmed dead by an assistant medical officer. Their remains were sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital Forensic Unit for post-mortem.

Yusof also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the traffic division of the District Police Headquarters or any nearby police station. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
