Kuala lumpur: Three media personnel were among 30 scout commissioners from various national-level positions and the National Headquarters who received official commissions and appointments for a three-year term until 2027.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the individuals included Bernama News Officer Maizatul Jamny Muhammad Rosli, MalaysiaGazette journalist Syahira Yahya, and Free Malaysia Today (FMT) photographer Moganraj Villavan, who have been commissioned as National Headquarters Commissioners. The appointments also included Noor Azmi Ujang as Melaka State Chief Scout Commissioner and Kugeneswaran Tamilmany as Negeri Sembilan State Chief Scout Commissioner.
The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) stated that the commissioning aimed to strengthen the administrative structure and coordination of scouting activities at the national level, aligning with PPM's mission to nurture competitive and virtuous youth. The investiture ceremony, held at the PPM Headquarters, was officiated by National Chief Scout Major General (Rtd) Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin. The event was attended by National Scout Council deputy president Datuk Ahmad Shazilly Ismail Bakti and Acting National Chief Scout Commissioner Dr Mohammed Mukhyuddin Sarwani.
Mohd Zin emphasized that the appointment was not merely a mandate but a major responsibility to guide the younger generation through progressive and holistic scouting education. 'Your commission comes from the National Chief Scout, a power conferred by His Majesty the King. Therefore, your commission is highly valuable, unlike those given by other associations,' he said.
He further stated that competence, knowledge, and leadership are crucial for these roles, as the commissioners are at the operational level to implement the scouting mission. 'We want PPM to be the greatest association not only in Malaysia but in the world. So let us work together to make Scouts Malaysia an outstanding organisation,' Mohd Zin added.
He also expressed hope that all commissioned scout commissioners would serve with integrity, professionalism, and a strong spirit of volunteerism to strengthen the reputation and effectiveness of PPM at both national and international levels.
