Three New Initiatives Boost Malaysia’s Role As Global Halal Leader

Malaysia: Malaysia is strengthening its position as a global leader in the halal industry with the introduction of a fully digital halal certification system and the recruitment of 100 new auditors to meet growing international demand.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Office of the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) stated that the adoption of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (OIC/SMIIC) Standards has also been introduced to support efforts to harmonise halal standards internationally.

The statement revealed that the three initiatives were announced at the Global Halal Summit 2025 (GHaS 2025), officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, noted in the same statement that the initiatives demonstrate Malaysia's commitment to developing a more sustainable, trusted, and future-oriented halal ecosystem.

He mentioned that other countries are invited to join Malaysia in advancing the global halal industry, which is now a trillion-dollar market. 'Through global cooperation, knowledge-sharing and standardisation, we can build the halal economy into a trade ecosystem founded on integrity, openness and shared prosperity,' he added.
