Three locations-Taman Daya, Bandar Seri Alam, and Pasir Putih-have been proposed as sites for the construction of new stations for the commuter rail service from Kempas Baru to Pasir Gudang. Johor Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh announced these proposed stations, emphasizing their potential to enhance daily passenger movement in the area.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Fazli highlighted that the current phase involves reviewing all technical aspects to ensure a high-quality service for Johor residents. He urged the public to anticipate positive developments regarding this project soon. The introduction of the commuter service is in its observation stage and is considered a viable solution to alleviate the heavy congestion on the Pasir Gudang Highway, which road users experience daily.
He further explained that the proposed commuter service offers a fast, e fficient, and modern transportation alternative. This service aims to deliver smoother travel experiences and help commuters save time by avoiding traffic jams. Previously, Mohamad Fazli noted that the approximately 40-kilometre railway line, formerly used exclusively for cargo services, is now planned to accommodate passenger services as well.
The planning of this initiative is a collaborative effort with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) and includes the development of several medium-scale stations to facilitate passenger movement.
