Three Temiar Orang Asli Students Innovate with Robotic Technology in Gua Musang.

GUA MUSANG: Three Temiar Orang Asli students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Permai, Pos Pasik, have made their own mark in history by developing robotic technology for use in their traditional homes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, twelve-year-olds Romzi Anjang and Siti Saleha Masri, along with Mekrenik Rabu, 11, successfully developed a robotic innovation to operate doors, lights, clothes drying areas, and plant watering systems with their Dekatamiar project. Their mentor, Ahmad Najmuddin Jaafar, mentioned that Dekatamiar is set to participate in an international robotics competition next year.

The three students will represent Malaysia in the innovation category at the International Robot Olympiad 2024/2025, scheduled from February 16 to 21, 2025. Ahmad Najmuddin explained that ‘Dekatamiar’ means ‘Temiar Home,’ symbolizing their ethnic heritage. The house is built using natural materials, with the roof made of nipah leaves and the walls adorned with kelarai weave.

Preparations are in full swing to refine
the robotic house model before taking it to the international competition. Ahmad Najmuddin confirmed receiving an invitation letter from the International Robot Olympiad Committee to participate in the event in Busan, South Korea, on February 17 next year.
