Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Forecast Across Peninsular Malaysia Until 9 PM

Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning, with heavy rain and strong winds expected across nine states in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as parts of Sabah and Sarawak, until 9 pm tonight.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the weather is expected to affect Perak, Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka. Similar conditions are also expected in Kelantan, affecting the districts of Jeli and Gua Musang, Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman), and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan, and Rompin).

The thunderstorm warning also covers areas in Johor, including Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Bahru. In Sarawak, the affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, including Pakan, Sarikei, and Julau, Sibu including Kanowit, Kapit, and Bintulu including Sebauh. In Sabah, the district of Tongod in Sandakan is expected to experience similar weather conditions.

Earlier, MetMalaysia issued a yellow-level continuous rain alert, forecasting persistent rainfall across several states in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah from December 5 to 8.
