TNB Announces RM1.5 Billion Dividends for 1H 2025, Reinforcing Commitment to Nation-Building and Community Empowerment

Kuala lumpur: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) today unveiled its financial results for the first half of the financial year ending December 31, 2025, emphasizing its dedication to nation-building and community support while ensuring sustainable returns to its shareholders.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, TNB's strategy is deeply rooted in reliability to ensure Malaysians continue enjoying stable and secure electricity. In the first half of 2025, TNB invested RM5.2 billion in projects aimed at meeting demand growth, securing supply, and facilitating the energy transition. On May 28, 2025, TNB recorded a new maximum demand of 21,049 megawatts (MW), highlighting the significance of these investments. These efforts have resulted in improvements in the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI), which improved to 23.56 minutes per customer in 1H 2025 compared to 23.92 minutes a year earlier.

For the first half of 2025, TNB reported earnings of RM2.2 billion, driven by robust demand, operational efficiency, and prudent financial management. A foreign exchange translation gain of RM350.6 million also contributed to this performance. The board of directors declared an interim dividend of 25 sen per share, in line with its dividend policy. It is estimated that RM1.5 billion in dividends will be distributed to shareholders, with almost 60 per cent directed to government-linked investment institutions such as Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP), Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Permodalan Nasional Bhd, and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP).

Beyond financial returns, TNB continues to support the community through various initiatives. Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) will introduce new Bachelor's and Master's level Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses in September to address the growing demand for skills in this area. TNB has also enhanced its social impact through zakat assistance, with RM5.4 million provided to over 21,500 beneficiaries. Additional community-driven initiatives in 1H 2025 amounted to RM99.7 million, supporting education, healthcare, disaster relief, sports development, and clean energy projects.

These initiatives are part of TNB's long-term vision to build a modern, reliable, and sustainable energy ecosystem, consistent with its Reimagining TNB 2.0 strategy. TNB's achievements were recognized in July 2025 when Brand Finance named it the world's second strongest utility brand and ASEAN's top utility brand, with a brand value increase of 35 per cent to US$2.3 billion and a AAA strength rating.
