Kuala lumpur: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is providing a RM25 million sponsorship to the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) to strengthen the development of hockey in the country over five years until 2030. TNB chief executive officer Datuk Shamsul Ahmad said the sponsorship involves RM5 million annually from this year until 2030, reflecting the national utility company's commitment to supporting the development and success of Malaysian hockey.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the allocation will be directed towards development, competitions, and assistance to all schools involved. Shamsul stated, "We want to see hockey continue to achieve success and be elevated, and we hope that one day we can become world champions," after the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between TNB and MHC held today. The event was also attended by Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari.
MHC president Subahan Kamal expressed appreciation to TNB for its continued support for hockey development. He remarked, "Alhamdulillah, I am told that this contract is for five years with a total value of RM25 million, and TNB understands that we require funding. We hope this fund will be used in the best possible way to further improve hockey performance and bring more success in the future."
