Alor Setar:Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has announced its intention to fully cooperate with the authorities in investigating an incident that resulted in injuries to three teenagers from electric shocks during a temple procession last night.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, preliminary investigations by TNB suggested that the incident occurred when a flagpole carried in the procession came too close to a high-voltage transmission line, causing an electrical arc flash.
The public has been advised by TNB to prioritize safety and ensure that tall objects, such as flagpoles, are kept at a safe distance from power lines. The company expressed deep sympathy for those affected and wished for the speedy recovery of the victims who are currently receiving medical treatment.
The incident took place around 9 pm, exacerbated by strong winds and light rain, which caused the flag to sway dangerously close to the power line. The injured teenagers, two aged 17 and one aged 16, were promptly taken to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment.
