Toll-Free Travel Announced on East Klang Valley Expressway

Kuala lumpur: The East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) will be toll-free from 6 am tomorrow until 11:59 pm on September 30, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today. This announcement was made during the opening ceremony of Section One of the expressway at the Ampang Toll Plaza.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 24-kilometre Section One of the EKVE features four interchanges located at Sungai Long, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Hulu Langat, and Ampang. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the need for the swift completion of Section Two of the expressway to address the severe traffic congestion in Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas. He highlighted the importance of keeping highway projects on schedule despite the high costs, noting their significance for both local residents and tourists.

In his speech, the Prime Minister also noted that public works and transport, alongside education and healthcare, receive significant financial allocations in Malaysia due to the country's status as a major tourist destination. The event was attended by notable figures including Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
